Forest Resistance and Resilience to 2002 Drought in Northern China

چکیده

Drought can weaken forest activity and even lead to mortality, the response of different types drought be diverse. Deciduous broadleaf (DBF) deciduous needleleaf (DNF) are two majority in northern China. In this region, a severe event happened 2002. However, due lack data, spatio-temporal characteristics ecosystem stability here remain unclear. study, we used machine learning approach (model tree ensemble, MTE) drive fluxsite gross primary productivity (GPP), combined with remote sensing-based GPP vegetation index data (EVI), analyze spatial temporal resistance resilience DNF DBF China during after 2002 drought. The results showed that DBFs were more acclimatized drought, while diverse under consecutive events. These could suggestive for conservation modeling.

Response of ecosystem carbon fluxes to drought events in a poplar plantation in Northern China

Poplar plantations are widely used for timber production and ecological restoration in northern China, a region that experiences frequent droughts and water scarcity. An open-path eddy-covariance (EC) system was used to continuously measure the carbon, water, and energy fluxes in a poplar plantation during the growing season (i.e., April–October) over the period 2006–2008 in the Daxing District...

Forest biogeochemistry in response to drought.

Trees alter their use and allocation of nutrients in response to drought, and changes in soil nutrient cycling and trace gas flux (N2 O and CH4 ) are observed when experimental drought is imposed on forests. In extreme droughts, trees are increasingly susceptible to attack by pests and pathogens, which can lead to major changes in nutrient flux to the soil. Extreme droughts often lead to more c...

Effects of biotic and abiotic factors on resistance versus resilience of Douglas fir to drought

Significant increases in tree mortality due to drought-induced physiological stress have been documented worldwide. This trend is likely to continue with increased frequency and severity of extreme drought events in the future. Therefore, understanding the factors that influence variability in drought responses among trees will be critical to predicting ecosystem responses to climate change and...
